Close is already in discussion with a script writer on the project.nightwingnova wrote:Get a production of the musical version of Sunset Boulevard to the screen - cast Close in the lead and she should win easily.

An upset of near Marcia Gay Harden proportions -- when Kate Hudson was sentimental favorite. I sensed The Favourite's acclaim might take an unexpected acting prize -- yet more likely in Supporting Actress.

Re: 91st Oscars: Actress
The biggest shock of the evening, but not undeserved.
Everybody in Hollywood loves Glenn Close and says they were rooting for her, but they voted for Olivia Colman. It reminds me of the anecdote from Inside Oscar about the 1958 best actress race.
I'm paraphrasing, but it went something like this: Old friends David Niven and Rosalind Russell ran into each other just before the ceremony. Russell (Auntie Mame) gave Niven (Separate Tables) a wink and a thumbs up to convey that she voted for him. He returned the wink and thumbs up suggesting her voted for he when, as he said later, he actually voted for Susan Hayward (I Want to Live!). Niven and Hayward, of course, won.

I was at the cinema for most of the duration of the awards Ceremony.
When I got out I checked my phone and let out a WOW in the cinema foyer when I saw this result. So happy Olivia Colman won but I can't help but feel for Glenn Close.

She was nominated the year Peter O'Toole lost for the seventh time. She was nominated the year Geraldine Page lost for the seventh time. I guess Close would have a much better chance at winning this year had she not been nominated.

It was a toss up, but Glenn had the sentimental side

Except it wasn't a surprise. I predicted it. I was hoping for The Favourite or BlacKkKlansman or even Black Panther.
