2016 Oscar Shouldabeens

Magilla usually starts this post and understandably much later in the year. But I'm balled over by just how great 2016 has been so far this year but must admit that very little due out for the remainder of the year (Manchester by the Sea being the exception) appeals to me. The Venice Film Festival line-up looks particularly dire. Even if I don't seen another good film from 2016 it has already proven to be a much better year than 2015.

So I'm posting my best of year list (very) early and will do an update sometime early next year. If anything it will be interesting to see how much or little it changes:
