At least compared to everyone else here, the one prediction where I am going out on a limb is Original Score for Argo.

Not to open a debate here, but Brave is terrific, but nothing can be worse than the rancid Happy Feet.

I'll doubtlessly update this as the night approaches. I am pretty sure I'm the only person predicting Russell for Best Director which I'm genuinely on the fence about. I've been feeling Argo for screenplay for a while now and I'm only unsure about whether or not to put SLP as a Runner Up. I'm seeing more and more predictions for Life of Pi in Production Design and I'm wondering whether or not Les Miserables truly will just go home with an award for Anne Hathaway. Best Original Screenplay is the closest the race has been in ages but by the same token it's possible that when the votes are tallied it's not even going to be close! Any one of those three could be the runaway favorite. Same thing for Best Supporting Actor. And what's pushing Brave over the top for me in Animated Film is simply because it's a story that older voters can respond to which will make it easily the worst PIXAR movie to win the Oscar and now that I think about it pretty easily the worst animated film to win in this category since its inception.

I'm based in Lexington, Kentucky. Sally Field visited here to tour The Mary Todd Lincoln House while preparing for Lincoln. She wore a big, floppy hat to sort of disguise herself & she was able to visit the site while other guests toured the home. Former Best Supporting Actor nominee Michael Shannon ("Revolutionary Road") is from Lexington also.

Oscar Predictions Contest!

Post by anonymous1980 »

Thought I'd do this now before it's too late.

The rules will be the same as the Globes prediction contest:

1. Pick a winner and an optional runner-up in all 24 categories.

2. A correct prediction with a runner-up earns 2 points.

3. A correct runner-up prediction earns 1 point.

4. A correct prediction without a runner-up earns 3 points.

5. Most accumulated points win.

6. Deadline is the moment Seth MacFarlane hits the stage and starts his opening monologue/produciton number/comedy bit.
