The Awards Daily kids are inconsolable. Every one of them was saying that Anne Hathaway was the only possible winner. They're the Oscar-geek equivalents of the right-wingers who thought Romney had it in the bag.

There's been an awfully long wait for the next announcement which should be Best Screenplay.

No, it was due to a tweet embargo.
I've been pulling off of the website, not Twitter, and it was just as long there too. I think there may have been some dispute there...in all, these seem to be coming out slower than usual. Two hours and only 3 announcements?
The really long lag was between the start of voting and the first award -- almost an hour. Word was the rules had previously precluded a doc. winning first film, so they may have spent time thrashing that out.

At this rate, they'll be voting through dinner hour.

Because of the tweet embargo none of these cites are getting the information they've gotten in the last couple of years - they have to wait for the official announcements to be posted on the website.

I think this is one of the less competitive years. Certainly much less so than last year. And, I find so few exciting choices that I think we'll see some surprises.

I can only guess that Daniel Day Lewis will get best actor as he dwarfs the competition.

Because we don't have performances like Meryl Streep's or Michelle Williams', I think the best actress award will go foreign, as it does in such circumstances. Emmanuelle Riva for Amour. Maybe Marion Cotillard for Rust and Bone.

The wonderful but not fantastic screenplay for Silver Linings Playbook seems to me a good and interesting enough choice for screenplay. Lincoln should be in the hunt too.

The rest are beyond me. Perhaps Philip Seymour Hoffman for supporting actor in The Master and Maggie Smith for supporting actress in The Best Exotic Marigold Hotel?...but I'm betting on surprises and even obscure choices....Beasts of the Southern Wild in some categories?
