How much of an impact do you think was made by Les Miserables not yet being theatrically released and only recently having sent out screeners?

Except for Daniel Day Lewis, I don't think there are any clear frontrunners this year. Can't wait to see Lumenick's breakdown!

They're taking a long time, but as they're getting towards the home stretch it's gotten pretty exciting. Several months ago I had minimal interest in seeing an Osama Bin Laden hunt film or any film called "Lincoln", no matter who directed it. Now, these could be two frontrunners battling it out to the end, along with Les Miz assuming it catches on. (FWIW, I had no interest in seeing Les Miz either.)

I think it's a safe assumption that Lincoln will win Best Film. Director could quite easily go elsewhere, though it'll likely be Spielberg.

And they're still voting...

I'm imagining the voting process to be very similar to how the Senate was protrayed in Lincoln. Lots of arguing, back-biting, horse-trading, etc...

Hopefully the McConaughey and Field awards weren't a way to bring some glitter to the awards ceremony.

Bernie is very entertaining...my favorite non-fiction film I've seen this year, although that is a limited number!

Is McConaughey possibly a contender for awards consideration this year (a la Melissa McCarthy), or is this another Steve Martin/Cameron Diaz NYFCC comedy pick that goes nowhere?

Sigh. Same here.

Thought we were going to see surprises. Most of the usual suspects named before the awards have not had much traction.

Can't wait to see Lumenick's vote breakdown!

I've yet to see Lincoln...but Sally Field strikes me as wrong for the part...Mary Todd suits Judy Davis much better, neurotic and dark. Nevertheless, I've heard good things from people I respect.

Daniel Day-Lewis, Lincoln. His fifth NYFCC award.

The Phoenix sweep just ended.

Wow.
Their Best Actress picks are always outside of the box it seems.
After I made my predictions, I saw that Penelope had posted his on Facebook and had this choice...I liked it and almost went back to change mine but didn't...damn

I definitely think either LAFCA or NSFC is more likely to go for Riva/a "foreign" actress.

This is the group most likely to go with a foreign nominee and they didn't go with Emmanuel Riva...or Marion Cotillard, though the latter was far less likely.

This is the type of performance a critics award should go to: One that has no chance of being nominated for an Oscar but is worthy of recognition. I am so sick of the critics awards trying to influence Academy voters. The critics awards should be to single out the films that true cineastes would be interested in seeing, not the multiplex crowd. I love Sally Field in general and she was very good in LINCOLN, but she is not the type of performance critics should be singling out.

Folks who have been following the Oscars much longer than me can probably point to when things changed for the various critics awards groups.
