It was certainly more tasteful than in recent years, as already noted. Jobs - who apparently was an Academy member - was clearly there for his contribution to Pixar, and because I'm sure every self-respecting studio exec has an iPad.

After last year's misguided John Hughes segment there were no special tributes. I was certain Liz Taylor would be granted something special.

Wonderful segment. Not sure if the audience was muted or if they actually sat through it in silence, but one of the most tasteful memoriam segments I've ever seen.

Steve Jobs did set off some head-scratching at my party; we figured it was for the Apple technology prevalent in putting a movie together, but Pixar's birth, sure.

Yes, Steve Jobs co-founded PIXAR. That was a lovely rendition of "What a Wonderful World". I'd like to get the mp3 of it.

Just confirmed that it was, indeed, Spalding.

Who was that singing? I should probably know, but I couldn't really make out much beyond the hair.
Esperanza, or rather her likeness cut into a hedge.

Two glaring omissions: Theo Angelopoulos & Raul Ruiz.

Just from looks and voice, I thought it was Best New Artist from last year Esperanza Spalding.

Also, anyone a fan of the fact they used What a Wonderful World instead of dreary "emotional" music?
