They've released the shortlist and you can vote for the nominees here.

Get as many non-shitty movies nominated and ruin MTV's goal of pandering to the stupid.

Do u guys remember the award for best new filmmaker? That was a great award and it actually made some bold choices... the winners list is very impressive but it was retired after the 2002 ceremony... (Instead, now we have Best WTF moment and Best Scared-As-S**t Performance).

The recipients of the best new filmmaker award were:
1992 John Singleton, Boyz n the Hood
1993 Carl Franklin, One False Move
1994 Steven Zaillian, Searching for Bobby Fischer
1995 Steve James, Hoop Dreams
1996 Wes Anderson, Bottle Rocket
1997 Doug Liman, Swingers
1998 Peter Cattaneo, The Full Monty
1999 Guy Ritchie, Lock, Stock & Two Smoking Barrels
2000 Spike Jonze, Being John Malkovich
2001 Sofia Coppola, The Virgin Suicides
2002 Christopher Nolan, Memento

I realize that any form of awards prognostication is a time-waster, but seriously...don't waste your time on this. You're basically just asking yourself what you would love if you were fifteen years old with the reading capacity of a twelve year old.

It's long since time we left the MTV Movie Awards behind us. They're a horrible disservice to how awesome they were fifteen years ago.

I think you're forgetting the fact that they haven't had the Best Action Sequence category around since 2004.
