I didn't love any of these movies, so no. 1 isn't necessarily a high ranking. Also, nos. 4 thru 8 could easily switch places with any one or two films immediately above or beneath them, so no. 8 isn't necessarily a low ranking, either.

Had I voted in this, Inception would have had one first place vote. But I somehow overlooked this thread.

If we were voting as the Academy does with a preferential ballot, we would have had to go to a second round to declare a winner.

The Social Network received nine first place votes out of twenty-one or 42.86%. It received an additional two second place votes putting it past the 50% plus one needed to win.

Black Swan; The King's Speech; Toy Story 3; True Grit and Winter's Bone each received two first place votes and The Fighter received one.

127 Hours; Inception and The Kids Are All Right did not receive any first place votes.

When the Academy had five nominees for Best Picture, there was always at least one bad apple. Last year THE BLIND SIDE and AVATAR stuck out like a sore thumb among an otherwise good line-up. This year not a single nominee is bad. I would have nominated SHUTTER ISLAND over a couple of the lower nominees, but all of them are great. Just because THE FIGHTER is on the bottom does not mean I do not consider it a very worthy Best Picture nominee. Lets hope they can repeat this success next year.

Will need to edit eventually, when I finally knock off The King's Speech.

1. The Social Network
2. The Fighter
3. Winter's Bone
4. 127 Hours
5. Black Swan
6. Inception
7. The King's Speech
8. Toy Story 3
9. The Kids Are All Right
10. True Grit

Somewhat arbitrary, for me. Last year, the gap between A Serious Man and Up in the Air at the top, and Precious/The Blind Side at bottom, was huge. This year's entrants all gather closer to a golden mean.

Damien, doing that would make cancel your whole ballot, wouldn't it?
