I've been wondering for a while now if Rabbit Hole's poor performance -- especially financially but also with the precursors -- might catch up with Nicole Kidman in the Best Actress race. I thought she was very good in the film, and I wouldn't at all want to see her omitted on Oscar nom morning. But it strikes me that there's barely any enthusiasm out there for the picture, and in a crowded Best Actress field, I do wonder if she isn't more vulnerable than many think.

Then again, she's been appearing very consistently throughout awards season, and staking a claim on a spot in any given category has helped performances far less than hers come Oscar time.

Given all the disqualifications, the only film that can be said to have been "hurt" by this is Rabbit Hole, which one might have expected to score ahead of Phillip Morris. (Unless it, too, was excluded and I missed the memo)
