Yeah -- the morning I woke up and read the reviews (especially the one where Janet Maslin likened it to Gone with the Wind), I had zero doubt it was the winner.

I really thought you were arguing that Crash beat Chicago for best picture for a moment.

My question though - do we think the new voting system (the ranked list followed by the new distribution patterns) will hurt anyone here?

Yes and no. A lot of people were thinking the Academy would backlash against Titanic, especially after the L.A. Confidential sweep. Yet, we all ended up knowing it would win. But Brokeback is still a good example.
