Lesley Manville shows up here instead of Nicole Kidman. Otherwise, yeah, the lists is inter-changeable with most others this year, which isn't necessarily a bad thing.

It helps us confine our focus, and consequently our time and money, on a select group of films instead of trying to see everything, especially all those films that are released at the end of the year. For example, I really didn't want to run out and see How Do You Know, Tron: Legacy or Yogi Bear and now I don't have to.

That said, it's kind of difficult to be an "individual" when you're a group of more than an x number of people. At least the San Diego Critics here made quite a number of choices which makes it seem like they actually vote for movies and performances that they actually like and not trying to predict the Oscars.

Best Most Promising Performer and Best Most Promising Filmmaker are the clunkiest-written award titles I have ever seen.
