It's now being reported that Soderbergh's latest, a MMA thriller called Haywire, may be released this December. Written by Lem Dobbs and starring Ewan McGregor, Michael Douglas, Michael Fassbender, Channing Tatum, Antonio Banderas, Michael Angarano, Mathieu Kassovitz and Bill Paxton, it summarized on imdb as:

Beautiful freelance covert operative Mallory Kane is hired out by her handler to various global entities to perform jobs which governments can't authorize and heads of state would rather not know about. After a mission to rescue a hostage in Barcelona, Mallory is quickly dispatched on another mission to Dublin. When the operation goes awry and Mallory finds she has been double crossed, she needs to use all of her skills, tricks and abilities to escape an international manhunt, make it back to the United States, protect her family, and exact revenge on those that have betrayed her.

Sounds cool. Not necessarily Oscar-y but LionsGate must think they have something on their hands with this one to rush it out. I'll also say that I'm pretty pleased that with both this and The Tourist we're seeing a slew of Hollywood productions about international high-stakes espionage pieces, harkening back to something Hollywood [usually] does very well.
"How's the despair?"
