Ah, that is true. That was also the reason Wunderkind from Chronicles of Narnia wasn't eligible back in 2005. Is it just me or does the entire music branch of the Academy need to be restructured? Between Best Score and Best Song eligibility rules that change every year, this is getting really annoying.

Or it wasn't properly submitted. I noticed that several songs from Princess and the Frog are not on the list, nor is the original song from 2012, plus a few others we thought would be there. That list is of the "eligible" submissions, not all submissions.

Hmm, funny to think that Precious was promoting "I Can See in Color" for Best Original Song, but it failed to make the Academy's short list. Perhaps a sign that it may not be a very solid candidate? Or just simply that the fickle music branch just didn't happen to like Mary J. Blige?

Yes, the sleeves with the specific categories generally do list the submitted nominees. For instance, even though I thought him an executive producer, Peter Jackson is one of two listed as Producer for District 9.
No, Jackson produced it (by that I mean 'produced by' not 'executive produced by'), and if I'm not mistaken also financed it.

I would love to see District 9 nominated for Picture, and, for what its worth, to see Peter Capaldi nominated for Supporting Actor for In The Loop. He already has an Oscar, but I doubt that that should have any bearing. In fact it won't have any bearing as he likely won't be nominated... Would be a nice surprise though.
