Don't worry - Max Records or Kodi Smit-McPhee will win.

Well, if I were to list the ten films I thought would be nominated for Best Picture at this moment in time, those would be the ten, so I guess I shouldn't be shocked those are EXACTLY the ones they chose.

From a "predict the Oscars" standpoint, the biggest omission is for the Last Station pair. Maybe these voters didn't see the film, but, given my non-enthusiasm for the performances, perhaps its equally likely they weren't taken as well. (Or, rather, they think the Academy won't be taken.) A sign of things to come?

Nice to see Samantha Morton make some traction. I saw The Messenger this weekend, mainly for Woody Harrelson (completely deserving, by the way), but I wasn't prepared for how strong a role Morton has. In fact, Supporting Actress is shaping up to be a really good category this year. I haven't seen Nine, but those five other nominees are a really classy bunch.

Speaking of Nine, it appears the "Cotillard is lead" push seems not to be working, though they did fall for the campaign for Matt Damon, who is not remotely a supporting actor by any means in Invictus.

And, on completely Oscar un-related terms...

Well, if they wanted to predict the Oscar nominees, they did a fine job.

I wonder if Summer Hours was left off from the Foreign Film list because these TV clowns couldn't appreciate its subtleties or because it's not eligible for Academy recognition, having been shown on television beforev its American release.

Presumably, these people have mistaken caricatures for acting. They probably think it's hard to recreate characters as iconic as these, because lord knows no one could ever do that.
