I thought Latifiah did a nice job with the song; and I agree with everyone who said they were annoyed by the camera angles during this sequence. I also thought the angles used during some of the musical numbers was distracting, too.

Does anyone know what movie has the Paul Newman quote used at the end of the montage, about the two kinds of people being those who've loved and expreienced joy and those who haven't? It looked like Cool Hand Luke; but, I'm not sure.

Maybe Conner had the greatest; his montage film style is clearly an inspiration to Chuck Workman (who demonstrated proof of his familiarity with Conner in the Source), and isn't Workman the man most responsible for the kinds of montages seen at Oscar shows? I don't have the historical background knowledge of the history of these telecasts to know for sure.

Agree with Penelope. We were moaning and groaning that we couldn't see the people being honored because the camera angle was blocking out their names, or from too far away.

Claude Berri was a given since he's an Oscar winner. Though, I guess that hasn't stopped them in the past.

I suspect they hoped that having Queen Latifah sing live it would persuade the audience not to clap. Didn't work.

My other complaint was that many times the video montage was so far from the camera that I couldn't read the words--this didn't help when I was trying to identify the behind-the-scenes people.
