But isn't this where Mister Tee would tsk tsk us with the old adage that most film editing does not mean best film editing. I cannot imagine anyone arguing another film had more editing.

It won this easily because "it was written" but you'll be hard pressed to convince me this film deserved any Academy Awards.

I think this film was made in the Editing room. While it reminds me terribly of Crash in terms of pacing and style, the film certainly would have been nothing without its editing. Even The Dark Knight, Benjamin Button, Frost/Nixon and Milk seemed less a product of an editor's work than Slumdog.

Agreed (except for the part about it being crap), but this movie did deserve best film editing for how it breathlessly had to narrate between three different time lines and do so at a break-neck pace.

My problem is, I'm sitting here for 3 hours knowing what's coming and finding very little to fill my time with to break up the monotony.

I can only imagine the laughter will be more along the lines of looking back in 2013 and 2018 at this best picture recipient. Well at least I'll count myself among them...

... because before SM took Best Film Editing, I still had a little doubt that BENJAMIN BUTTON or MILK could give us a surprise. Guess we badly need some surprises to spice up the otherwise way too predictable night.

I suppose it would be the last laugh with regards to Warner Bros, which didn't want to distribute it when it's specialty wing closed. Or the last laugh to those hoping that the backlash would derail it.
