Don't you think Michelle Williams is TOO left field? Tommy Lee Jones has more of a name and was around for decades....and a previous Oscar winner to boot. In fact it would have been a crime if he hadn't been nominated for Elah. A greater performance than the over praised Day-Lewis last year.

Think Melissa Leo (Frozen River) instead.

You can't rule anything out until it happens. They could very well be surprise nominations.

Is it just me or are DiCaprio and Blanchet already out of competition or something like that... they're not getting enough support to make a nomination a possible thing. That's just sad considering how great both actors are.

My thoughts exactly. Pitt is not a great actor, as I have said before. I don't understand your love for it, Wes, as I have said before, but it was deleted.

It would definitely be beneficial for the film if they stuck with foreign language, seeing as it has been winning that a lot more than best animated.

I'd bet on foreign more than on animated then. It would be the first R-rated nominee in the animated category, and there's only one slot free for it to slip in (Wall-E and Kung Fu Panda being locks.) I'd lean toward Bolt for that third slot.

I don't think Waltz with Bashir will get both Animated Feature and Foreign Film nomination...
It's going to be only one of those categories.

I already have it in for a future update. I decided to go over each category individually and try to figure out what the spoilers would be and some other stuff..

I know you have your doubts about The Dark Knight's Oscar chances, but wouldn't you think that, taking its WGA nomination into consideration, it should at the very least be mentioned as a hopeful for Best Adapted Screenplay? I don't think that Adapted Screenplay is so rock solid that the only possible spoiler for your predictions is Revolutionary Road, especially given the lukewarm reception of The Reader.
