Maybe we should call this the Hannah Montana Over Estimation Complex. Based on one tween-centric film performance, people over estimated the success of a similar Disney outing largely because they allowed the box office money values to cloud their ticket sales estimations.

Glad to see I am going to be dead wrong about the final box-office gross of High School Musical 3 -- and by a possible $100 million! It will probably struggle just to make it to $80 million.

i was hoping ZACK AND MIRI MAKE A PORNO was going to be number 1, but the other zac is far too powerful. still, a 64% drop for the little musical, combined with a smaller than expected opening, makes me hope this phenomenon is over. now we just wait for the CAMP ROCK movie.

even halloween weekend could not completely save SAW V. a 66% drop puts it in line to be the lowest grossing of the franchise. we may have to suffer through SAW VI, but hopefully this horrible genre is coming to an end.

i am surprised CHANGELING made it to number 4. probably will not last long in the top ten, but it was nice to know some people saw a higher-than-usual quality film.

Ah, okay. Sorry, then. I am just really embarrassed, so I'm a little on edge now. :D

Oh no, sorry, I didn't mean anything against you. I was just referring to trolls that usually roam message boards.

It might actually be more accepted, depending on the maturity of the board. The average maturity of message boards tends to hover around 14 years.

Thank you for alerting me to the nature of the word, which I wasn't aware of. I knew it was bad, but I didn't realize that it was that bad, and I am truly embarassed. I am not in the habit of using hate words, so I guess that the only saving grace about this whole situation is that I used it on a message board where the other posters are familiar with me. Had I used it on another board or on a heavily trafficked public website, the outcome might have been remarkably different.

So let's put it behind us and get the thread back on topic. :)

which is why i asked nicely. it was shocking to see moviewes use the word, but considering i have not seen it before i figured moviewes was not a habitual user of such angry language. i figured if i asked moviewes nicely, we could avoid further usage. a truly hateful person (which moviewes is not) would never have considered changing their behavior.

thank you moviewes for understanding. :)

There's pretty much politics pertaining to almost any curse word. There are difference between douchebags and assholes, the different terms for shit, and of course the words being discussed. I won't go into detail as this thread is already becoming one of the most vulgar existing threads on the board.

I was completely unaware of the politics pertaining to this word. Like I said before, I thought it was just an angrier, harsher version of the word 'bitch' and was not trying to offend anyone to their core. I apologize and will take full responsibility for any negative feelings that I seem to have stirred in some posters. I will, therefore, edit my original post in order to prevent any further damage that may be caused.

I hope that OscarGuy doesn't ban me, but if he does, I will understand (although it would be incredibly ironic that my getting banned would be due to a comment I made about Miley Cyrus). Just know that I wasn't trying to be misogynistic.

Well, just like gays and the f-word and blacks with the n-word there is a new reclamation of the c-word in the same spirit for women, that is reclaiming a word that was previously used to subjugate you. You ought to read the monologue "Reclaiming Cunt" which is part of Eve Ensler's The Vagina Monologues.

Not exclusively. I've met more than my fair share of male cunts.
i call males bithces and females bastards even though the origins of both of those names (female dog, son out of wedlock) have gender origins.

however, the c-word is so vicious and angry i think it is hateful. i was raised never to use the c-word, and taught that only misogynists say it...the same way only racists say the n-word and homophobes use the f-word. i guess my mother was stricter than others.
