1. Synecdoche, New York - Philip Seymour Hoffman is on a roll for me lately. And I'm starting to warm up to his schlubby ire for Hollywood-izing himself. Why can't he just do what he wants? Three great performances this year proves he's the real deal after an unearned (should've gone to Ledger), but by no means egregious Oscar win in 2005.
2. Milk - Let this open the floodgates to more gay-themed films.
4. Blindness - One of the most brilliant books in the last fifty years. Mierelles obviously has the chops to translate this to the screen.
5. Be Kind Rewind - This looks like a complete hoot. I love the concept.
5. The Dark Knight - Ledger's coup de grace. Could bring a posthumous supporting Oscar nod.
6. Indiana Jones - The little child of the 80's in me simply cannot wait for this.

The only film I am interested in seeing and I don't think it's starting filming yet is by Alain Resnais.

All the Hollywood films look very uninteresting.

Since I don't really know much about any of the typical Oscar fare coming out later this year, I'm really at a loss when it comes to the really good movies. However, here are a few of the popcorn-type movies (with the exception of Scorsese's Rolling Stones doc) that are coming out this year. What's on your radar?

1) The Dark Knight (d. Christopher Nolan)
2) Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull (d. Steven Spielberg)
3) Wall-E (d. Andrew Stanton)
4) Shine a Light (d. Martin Scorsese)
5) 007: Quantum of Solace (d. Marc Forster)
