I can see a satire based on either scenario in which fictional characters are put in situations akin to the actual Palins but who wants to sit through two hours of the real Palins especially when the story is ongoing and whatever is in the movie is apt to be stale news by the time it comes out.

McCarthy's approach could be a fictional, screwball comedy à la In & Out, Paul Rudnick's response to Tom Hanks' Oscar speech.
"...it is the weak who are cruel, and...gentleness is only to be expected from the strong." - Leo Reston

"Cruelty might be very human, and it might be cultural, but it's not acceptable." - Jodie Foster

I think the movie should focus on shopping sprees and her husband trying to secede from the states.

She's not the only one.

It would actually be far more interesting to do a serious biopic of her. Oliver Stone tried to split the difference by doing a sometimes serious, sometimes satiric take on former President Bush. It failed. He was much more successful when he tried to get into the heart, soul and mind of President Nixon in 1995.

Audiences aren't going to fall for a stretched-out Saturday Night Live skit about Sarah Palin. And, I'm sorry, but Dustin Lance Black is clearly not going to try a sympathetic or even close-to-objective approach to her. Neither would McCarthy.
"Because here’s the thing about life: There’s no accounting for what fate will deal you. Some days when you need a hand. There are other days when we’re called to lend a hand." -- President Joe Biden, 01/20/2021

I doubt Tina Fey will do it. She has already shown signs of being tired of it.

From imdb.com

Sarah Palin the Movie! Really?

Two, count that two, screenwriters are vying for the right to make a movie about the Alaskan Governor, and failed Vice-Presidential candidate, Sarah Palin.

First, we have Dustin Lance Black of "Milk" saying, "I'm always down for politics as humour. I'm also interested in great characters."

Then, we have "The Visitor's" Thomas McCarthy who wants to focus his Palin project on the teenage boy who impregnated the Governor's 17-year old daughter, Bristol.

McCarthy says: "This young man gets his girlfriend pregnant and ends up on the Republican platform at the National Convention. There's a dark comedy there somewhere. He was like a deer in the headlights."

Now, don't get too excited yet. Both films are just in the beginning stages right now.

But I'm wondering, will Tina Fey act in any of the movies?
"The mantle of spinsterhood was definitely in her shoulders. She was twenty five and looked it."

-Gone With the Wind by Margaret Mitchell
