Best Actress in a Musical is going to be the most interesting race this year. You have Kristen Chenoweth, who hasn't won a Tony since 1999 (and doesn't have a Lead Actress Tony) getting some of her best reviews yet for a show-stopping part. You have Chita Rivera, who you have to imagine is nearing the end of her career and who this may be the last time to acknowledge her (at least in the Lead category). Then you have Kelli O'Hara, five-times nominated but Tony-less, getting raving reviews in a part that has already won 2 actresses a Tony. In any other year, any of these would be solid front-runners. This is going to be a fun race!

Here are my predictions for Tuesday.

Most of these seem pretty obvious, but you never know. And the big surprise will be the so-called Fifth Slot for a lot of these categories, those actors and shows for which a nomination will truly be the honor. (And for Best Play and Best Revival, that 5th Slot is even optional, depending on how the votes go.)
