Yes, there are two remakes, if you can believe it. One was a TV movie broadcast on NBC a few weeks ago (it flopped), and there is this big-screen version due in May.
(I'm interested because Paul Gallico's novel and the 1972 film are guilty favorites of my childhood.)

Ok, fans of cheesy disaster movies unite--here we have a remake of one of the cheesiest (albeit beloved) disaster movies of the '70s, directed by one of the biggest hacks in Hollywood: Poseidon. Here's the trailer.
