Keaton barely edges out Fonda and Minnelli for me.

Diane Keaton. Is it wrong to kinda want to see the former Annie Hall naked in Something's Gotta Give this winter?

This is definitely the toughest 'best of best' poll so far. There's not a weak link in this bunch (except maybe Louise Fletcher, but only because she should've been in Supporting).

It made me realise how much I miss Glenda Jackson.

I voted for Glenda Jackson in Women in Love though the best performance on the list was from Katherine Hepburn in The Lion in Winter. I didn't vote for her as I didn't wish to include Bab's.

My choice is Maggie Smith, who I had pegged as a multiple future Oscar winner way back in 1963 when I first saw her in The V.I.P.s.

I knew the minute I saw her in The Prime of Miss Jean Brodie that that would the film for which she won her first. I never beleived all the hype about it being a two-way race between Minnelli and Fonda that year.

An easy choice for me : The great Miss Hepburn.

Although I'm also very fond of the performances on the list by Glenda Jackson (both her wins), Barbra Streisand and Faye Dunaway.

With the exception of The Lion in Winter (which I re-viewed last year), I haven't seen most of these performances in years. But, based on my rose-colored memories, I'm most fond of Jane Fonda in Klute--a magnificent performance, IMHO--but only a notch above Diane Keaton in Annie Hall.

My vote was for Katherine Hepburn, not Barbara Streisand.
