So, I just got back from a screening of Make Way for Tomorrow, which I know is highly praised around here by various sorts of all tastes. I can only say that the film overwhelmed me emotionally like no film has in a long time. My wife and I both knew that we were in for a treat, but didn't expect to find ourselves balling at the end of it nor overcome by the film as a whole. Pitchperfect acting and writing make this a top notch film, but McCarey's tender direction and attention to details make it a masterpiece. I really cannot even begin to put the film into words because it was such an emotional response I had to the film (which doesn't happen to me often...I usually get too caught up in my mind while watching a film). Perhaps it was because I saw my grandparents and myself in the old couple and too much of my aunts and uncles in the children!

Why has this film never been released on home video? It is a tragedy that this film has not been seen by more people.

The first and last time I saw Camille was 21 years ago. The fact that Garbo dominated the film for me probably has to do with me placing Taylor in supporting. It's so long since I've seen the film, to be truthful I can't recall the size of his role.

I received the Garbo box set for Xmas but have only watched the silents. Camille is ear marked for a re-viewing shortly. This will probably alter my selections for '37.

Do also check out Lenore Ulric in this film.
