Alan Bates – The Go-Between
Surely Alan Bates was a lead in The Go-Between?
As was Timothy Bottoms in Last
Picture Show
I can see the argument about Timothy Buttoms, but i consider "Last Picture Show" an ensemble piece. However i don't think that it is such a stretch to regard the role of Alan Bates in "The Go Between" a supporting one. He may the top billing male star but he wasn't on screen most of the time.
