I voted for Midnight Cowboy. I do not think it was the best film of that group (that would be, IMO, The Godfather). But I think it winning BP over the much more popular and Oscar friendly Butch Cassidy was one of the great decisions in Oscar history.
The great thing in the world is not so much where we stand, as in what direction we are moving. It's faith in something and enthusiasm for something that makes a life worth living. Oliver Wendell Holmes

I don't know that the Oliver! discussion is still around but, while I won't say it's the best winner of this decade, I still liked the movie quite a lot.

Dammit! I really wanted to say Annie Hall but I'm a sucker for The Godfather. Still can't believe the Woodman beat Lucas and didn't even show up to collect the spoils. What a year!

This was a great decade. Besides Oliver i liked every one of these films a whole lot. I think they're all in my top 200 of all time. And i liked oliver too, just not on the other levels. I would love to see some of you rank these films. I have a tough time ranking these but here goes.

1)The Godfather
2)One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest
3)Annie Hall
4)Rocky
5)The Godfather Part II
6)The Sting
7)The French Connection
8)Midnight Cowboy
9)Patton
10)Oliver!

Went with The Godfather.

Which of these do you consider the best of the winners selected during this decade?
