I should have mentioned this from the word go but these lists represent what I think might have been nominated had the Academy been in existance before 1927. I have not seen many on these lists - in fact many may even be lost films for all I know. Having read about these silent films, I'm trying to create these lists for fun.

Reza, besides the Chaplin short, I've only seen one of these films: Male and Female, and I too am a fan. I'm planning to see another DeMille film on Thursday: This Day and Age. And Swanson's Beyond the Rocks on Sunday.

Broken Blossoms and Madame Du Barry are lodged firmly on my want-to-see list. Any others you'd especially recommend from these?
