From what I can gather, the source material for Notorious went uncredited at the time, though is now acknowledged. Criterion's DVD offers excerpts from the short story the script was based on as an extra feature.

Thanks for the corrections, MCAR. Curiously, though, Ben Hecht was nominated for Best Original Screenplay for Notorious.

Damien, wonderful list (and thank you for reminding me of My Darling Clementine!), but both Notorious and It's A Wonderful Life are adapted screenplays, the former based on John T. Foote's "The Song Of The Dragon" and the latter on Phillip Van Doren Stern's "The Greatest Gift."

How great was 1946? No room for Cary Grant on your Best Actor list, that's how great.

Seriously though: you're gonna have to post these for every year, Damien. For. Every. Year.

I can never enjoy watching The Yearling as I get distracted by Claude Jarman annoyingly calling Peck ''Paw''! After hearing it for the fiftieth time within the first half hour I've lost interest (though I'm sure I've seen the film in full on tv as a child). And Jane Wyman's severe & humorless Ma is a real turn-off.
