Transition: Maula Jutt actress Aasia Begum passes away

Pakistani film industry’s renowned actress Aasia Begum, who was famous for her work in 1979 Punjabi film Maula Jatt, passed away in Canada, Express News reported Saturday.

The actress had worked in films like Maula Jatt, Wehshi Jatt among other films. She was one of the most popular female actors during the ’70s and ’80s.

She won two Nigar Awards; one for Best Actress for her role in the film Qanoon in 1977, while the other one was for Best Supporting Actress for the film Aag in 1979.

Her most memorable performance though remains the role she played in Maula Jatt, which saw Aasia cast in the lead role opposite veteran actor Sultan Rahi.

She passed away in Canada on Saturday. She was 61 and left behind a husband and four children.
