R.I.P. Reni Santoni

Whether they are behind the camera or in front of it, this is the place to discuss all filmmakers regardless of their role in the filmmaking process.

This is one of those Twilight Zone moments for me. I was with some friends the other night (in a backyard garden, so safe), and Enter Laughing/Santoni came up. One of my friends had actually worked with him, in Brewster's Millions; said he was a very nice guy. This was easily the first time I'd thought of him in decades, and weird it was literally the day he died.

I actually knew of him BEFORE Enter Laughing. Back in 1965, he was a regular guest on the Merv Griffin Show, which I used to watch most nights during summer vacation. (I know, Merv Griffin, yuck -- but in those days, when he was based in NY, he had offbeat, little known regular guests like Richard Pryor, Fannie Flagg and Joanne Worley.) That Enter Laughing fizzled as a movie prevented his ever becoming a star, but he was a solid working actor for many years.
