R.I.P. Irrfan Khan
Re: R.I.P. Irrfan Khan
Sad news. I always thought it was only a matter of time before Khan would land the right part to get him a deserved "career" nomination.

Like dws, I was introduced to him via In Treatment, on which I thought he was quite superb. Shocking to lose him at such a young age.
Re: R.I.P. Irrfan Khan
He was brilliant in so many homegrown films. The West got to see only a tiny glimmer of his genius.
The following films are required viewing if anyone is interested in watching his amazing work in Indian films:
Maqbool (2003) - an adaptation of Macbeth
Life in a Metro (2007)
Paan Singh Tomar (2012)
The Lunchbox (2013)
Talvar (2015)
Piku (2015)
Hindi Medium (2017)

He made my Supporting Actor shortlist for The Namesake, although I haven't seen it since it was first released on DVD and don't remember a lot about it.

In which his character also died young, which now makes it all the more poignant.Big Magilla wrote:I'll always remember him in The Namesake.

Re: R.I.P. Irrfan Khan
He didn't get a ton of meaty roles in America, but one of the few times he did, in a season-long spot on In Treatment, he absolutely killed it. Haven't seen many of his non-American films, but he was always a welcome presence.

A huge loss to Indian cinema. One of the most versatile actors who managed to also make a name for himself in the West.
