Whether they are behind the camera or in front of it, this is the place to discuss all filmmakers regardless of their role in the filmmaking process.

R.I.P. Lucian Pintilie

Post by Precious Doll »

A few weeks ago I'd never heard of this director until I saw his 1968 film Reconstruction. Funnily enough at the screening I attended, speaking with a couple of long time cinephiles, none of us had ever heard of Pintile or the film. It should be noted that Pintilie is very highly regarded in Romania and he was a huge influence on the new wave of Romanian film directors that have emerged during the 21st century. This was very evident watching Reconstruction as many contemporary Romanian directors appear to have taken the style of storytelling that Pintile used in his 1968 film. Hopefully, more of his films will become available in the future.
