What a devastating loss for the world. He didn't quite live to receive the Nobel Prize, but, he did live about 50 years longer than expected.

I think as the subject of Errol Morris' "A Brief History of Time", as well as having been a pervasive pop culture touchstone of the past three or four decades, his loss merits a mention here.
