R.I.P. Shelley Berman

Whether they are behind the camera or in front of it, this is the place to discuss all filmmakers regardless of their role in the filmmaking process.

I'm embarrassed to say that, when I saw this on Facebook earlier, I thought it might be one of those not-infrequent cases of people posting a years-old obituary -- it's so long since I though of Berman, I assumed he must be long-dead. Apparently I just don't watch the right TV shows; a glance at IMDB tells me he remained active a long time, till infirmity caught up with him.

It may be I felt this way -- that he must be long gone -- because his heyday was even before my years of awareness. I can't clearly recall much adult-world stuff before 1959, which was about his peak time. I certainly remember hearing his name a lot -- like Dick Gregory, he used to be REALLY famous -- but I thought of him as mostly someone before my time.
