From Joan of Paris to The Proud and the Beautiful to Everybody's Fine, she was always a welcome presence in roles both large and small. One wonders if she wouldn't have been a bigger star in Hollywood had RKO lent her out to Warner Bros. for Casablanca as would have happened if Warner had offered enough money. At 96, she was almost as long-lived as fellow French legend Danielle Darrieux who is in her 100th year.
