The last of the mid-century generation on which I grew up. A giant who had the great fortune of coming back later in life (with Three Tall Women and The Goat) after having been dismissed as past it by many critics in the 80s. And who will always have written Who's Afraid of Virginia Woolf? (and A Delicate Balance, and Three Tall Women, and The Zoo Story...but especially, undeniably, Virginia Woolf).
