R.I.P. Bob Ellis

Whether they are behind the camera or in front of it, this is the place to discuss all filmmakers regardless of their role in the filmmaking process.

I've been attending the Sydney Film Festival since 1980 and particularly over last dozen or so years would often cross paths with Bob Ellis, looking his usual dishelved self. At last years festival whilst waiting in line for a film Bob shuffled past and the jaws and my partner and I literally dropped to the floor. The poor man looked dreadful - like death warmed up. It wasn't too long after that that it was made public that Bob was battling liver cancer and only had 3 months to live. He lived longer than that and made the most of his time left. My only gripe with this obituary is that is makes no mention of his greatest screenplay which was the little seen Goodbye Paradise (1983).
