Ok, I have to do this: as much as I enjoy Claudette Colbert in It Happened One Night, I have to replace her with what I think is Greta Garbo's greatest performance, in Queen Christina.

In case anyone is having trouble coming up with ideas, eligible films that were overlooked by the Academy in 1934 include Queen Christina (1933 in New York, but 1934 in Los Angeles), The Count of Monte Cristo, Death Takes a Holiday, Little Man, What Now?, Tarzan and His Mate, The Lost Patrol, Twentieth Century, Man of Aran, It's a Gift, Sons of the Desert, Little Miss Marker, Bright Eyes, David Harum, Judge Priest and Dames.

It was not released in the U.S. until 1947, so it would not be eligible for this year.
