Sorry to be a holdup! 79 was a great year for movies, but most of my favorites (Siberiade, Stalker, The Maids of Wilko) weren't Oscar-eligible that year.

Best Actor: Replace Roy Scheider with George C. Scott in Hardcore

Best Cinematography: Replace Kramer vs. Kramer with Cuba.

Best Sound: Preserve Apocalypse Now

OK... Wahlberg is terrific and funny in The Departed, but I'll close things off by replacing him with that great hissable bad guy, Sergei Lopez in Pan's Labyrinth.
