What about "America's Most Smartest Model"?
Did anyone ever twig that the title might conceivably be bad grammar?

In the workplace (usually having to do with payroll), I hate it when someone says "sosh (long o)" referring to your social security number.

Also, I work in a video store (going on 12 years now...) and I cannot stand it when I hear customers say "That's supposed to be good." Oh really? It's supposed to be? Isn't every movie intended to be good you dumbass? I would much prefer a "I heard this was good", or "I read about this movie and I want to see it."

Fixed... I apologize. I had to do it.

You mean writing 'l8er' as opposed to later? That type of nonsense. I get what you mean.

Our world is full of morons.

leet speak (aka elite speak). It's an internet jargon that uses numbers and symbols to replace numbers.

Being involved in a lot of online games and being part of the gamer culture, lol is accepted slang and is part of an abbreviated typeset that has besieged the internet. Speaking those letters is about stupid, though.

Another of my frustrations is when a 12- or 14-year-old will speak in lolspeak or 1337 5p34k when he or she is barely able to speak the English language or use proper syntax when speaking.

If we're going to start discussing pet peeves, then mine undoubtable is 'LOL'. I mean why? Why do people feel the need use this, this, this not even a word type word.

There's a girl who works for my wife and she uses this 'word' when speaking.

- I went to his party last night, LOL.

- it was like, so LMFAO...

Above is an example, albeit a crap example, of the type drivel this chick spews. All followed by the word LOL.

Fuck. Right. Off.

Sorry for that rant, LOL.

Big Magilla wrote:"I'm here 24/7" instead of "I'm here twenty four hours a day, seven days a week" or simpley, "I'm here all the time."

Oh, Jesus, Magilla. There's dumbing down the English language and then there's acceptable slang. Everyone in the free world knows that "24/7" is referring to 24 hours a day, seven days a week. You're sort of being an old fogey on that one.

My pet peeves (although, the use of the term "pet peeves" is actually one of them) are:

- Idiotic people who use the non-word "irregardless".

- The expression "All's I'm saying is" which basically makes you sound like an uneducated fool.

- Over-reliance on the word "like".

I hate the dumbing down of the English language as perpetuated not only in dramatic TV shows, but talk shows and news shows as well. Some examples:

Using less in place of fewer as in "I have less things to do today than yesterday."

"I could care less" instead of "I couldn't care less" which actually means that you have have some interest when what you wish to convey is that you have none at all.

"I received an invite" instead of "I received an invitation."

"I'm here 24/7" instead of "I'm here twenty four hours a day, seven days a week" or simpley, "I'm here all the time."

"Day one", which is a good term and an effective attention grabber the first, or maybe even the tenth time you hear someone say it, but when it's used it in every speech a la Hillary it becomes quite irritating. It's even worse when you hear her opponents use it as though they were following her lead.

I can't find the old article, so here's a new one. This one had been bothering me for some time.

"You really blah blah blah, don't you?"

It drives me insane. It's like reiterating for the retarded who can't get it on their own. It's a writing device that has no real place in high quality productions, IMO.
