It might also be worth highlighting the women who were notoriously un-Oscared over their careers but won here -- including Garbo, Dietrich, Carole Lombard, Irene Dunne, Barbara Stanwyck, Rosalind Russell, Gloria Swanson, Judy Garland, Deborah Kerr, and the still-hopeful of our era -- Sigourney Weaver, Michelle Pfeiffer, Glenn Close, Emily Watson and Julianne Moore.

The Best Actress polls will remain open, but as we prepare to start analyzing the Best Supporting Actress races, we should take a moment to reflect on the results here.

We agreed with Oscar only 37 out of 82 times, disagreeing most vociferously in the last decade when we agreed with only one of Oscar's winners - Helen Mirren in The Queen.

Katharine Hepburn, as she is with Oscar, is our all-time champion with four wins, albeit we agree only on one win, her first for Morning Glory. We subsequently chose her over the competition for Alice Adams; The Philadelphia Story and Summertime rather than Guess Who's Coming to Dinner; The Lion in Winter and On Golden Pond although she came within one vote of tying Joanne Woodward in Rachel, Rachel with The Lion in Winter, which would have given her five overall.

Two actresses, Diane Keaton and Sissy Spacek, have three awards each. Keaton won for Annie Hall; Reds and Something's Gotta Give while Spacek won for Carrie; Coal MIner's Daughter and In the Bedroom.

There are thirteen actresses with two wins each - Anne Bancroft (The Miracle Worker and The Graduate); Ingrid Bergman (Anastasia and Autumn Sonata); Ellen Burstyn (Alice Doesn't Live Here Anymore and Requiem for a Dream);Julie Christie (Darling and Away From Her); Bette Davis (Jezebel and Now, Voyager); Jane Fonda (They Shoot Horses Don't They? and Klute); Audrey Hepburn (Roman Holiday and Breakfast at Tiffany's); Holly Hunter (Broadcast News and The Piano); Vivien Leigh (Gone With the Wind and A Streetcar Named Desire); Rosalind Russell (Mourning Becomes Electra and Auntie Mame); Barbara Stanwyck (Ball of Fire and Double Indemnity); Meryl Streep (The French Lieutenant's Woman and Sophie's Choice) and Joanne Woodward (The Three Faces of Eve and Rachel, Rachel).

There were three ties - Shirley Booth (Come Back, Little Sheba) and Julie Harris (The Member of the Wedding) in 1952; Audrey Hepburn (Breakfast at Tiffany's and Sophia Loren (Two Women) in 1961 and Diane Keaton (Reds) and Meryl Streep (The French Lieutenant's Woman) in 1981.

Only five actual winners failed to receive any votes. They are Mary Pickford (Coquette); Helen Hayes (The Sin of Madelon Claudet); Ginger Rogers (Kitty Foyle); Judy Holliday (Born Yesterday) and Helen Hunt (As Good As It Gets).
