That could well be the end of that list.

By my count, only one person has won both an Oscar and a Nobel Prize in Literature, the two most prestigious cultural awards in the world: G.B. Shaw.

Several other Nobel Prize winners have been nominated for an Oscar: John Steinbeck, Jean-Paul Sartre and Harold Pinter (maybe others as well). Others have written screenplays, including at least William Faulkner and Gabriel García Márquez. Halldór K. Laxness briefly tried his luck as a screenwriter in Hollywood, but never got any of his screenplays into production.

Gandhi never actually won the Peace Prize.

Jack Nicholson (in Reds) as Eugene O'Neill.

I'm starting a list here of people who've won or been nominated for Oscars for playing people who've won Nobel Prizes.

Ben Kingsley, winner Best Actor, Gandhi, Mahatma Gandhi, Peace

Alexander Knox, nominee Best Actor, Wilson, Woodrow Wilson, Peace

Greer Garson, nominee Best Actress, Madame Curie, Marie Curie, Physics and Chemistry

Walter Pidgeon, nominee Best Actor, Madame Curie, Pierre Curie, Physics

Russell Crowe, nominee Best Actor, A Beautiful Mind, John Nash, Economics

Can anyone come up with any others?
