I'm pretty sure Larry Karaszewski, who's a high-ranking Academy member, may have pushed her to be included. He is a big fan of Last Summer and a big fan of her performance. He was instrumental in finding out what happened to her in that recently published article.

I was pleasantly surprised to see Catherine Burns included since she died during the previous Oscar season although her death wasn't reported until last week.

Another omission was Verna Bloom whose Medium Cool was at least as much a part of the 1969 film scene as Last Summer although most of them remember her more from Animal House than Haskell Wexler's film.

Valentina Cortese was an Oscar nominee who is part of Oscar lore thanks to Ingrid Bergman's acceptance speech at the 1974 Oscars. Hers was a shameful omission.

As per usual there were omissions. I really wish the Academy would split In Memoriam's into two segments so they could fit more people in but I suppose the show's running time will never permit that.

Was pleasantly surprised to see Catherine Burns & Barbara Hammer get in.

Wish there had been room for Ivan Passer, Sue Lyon, Rene Auberjonois, Ron Leibman, Michael J. Pollard, Carol Lynley, Edward Lewis, Freddie Jones, Valentina Cortese, Edith Scob, Larry Cohen, Jan-Michael Vincent.
