Kind of a headscratcher - Best Picture loses Best Director to directors of two other films while yet another film wins for Best Ensemble.
The show itself remains the worst of the televised awards shows.
The Good: Joaquin Phoenix and Renée Zellweger giving much improved acceptance speeches, Eddie Murphy (Life Achievement award winner), Kristen Bell (See Her award winner), Laura Dern (classy as ever) and 97-year-old Norman Lear who has to be the oldest winner of a competitive TV award ever.
The Bad: All of host Taye Diggs' routines. All those annoying CW "stars" I've never seen before and with luck will never see again. Quentin Tarantino jumping up to accept for Brad Pitt after the presenter had already accepted the award.
The Ugly: All those speeches that had to be bleeped, some almost in their entirety. What's the point of that, especially after all the noise over the bleeping last week at the Golden Globes?
