Thanks all, btw. I honestly think this is the first time I've won this particular contest.

I really am quite surprised. I've been tabulating ballots for two different organizations this weekend and have been totally brain-fried or I might have noticed the bonus questions and done those too.

THE RESULTS!!!

First the correct answers to the bonus questions were:

Will Ricky Gervais do jokes or bits about:
1. Trump? No
2. Cats? Yes
3. The length of The Irishman? Yes
4. His atheism or atheism in general? No
5. The HFPA members? Yes
6. Trans people? No
7. The #MeToo movement? Yes
8. Political correctness? No
9. Baby Yoda? Yes
10. Brexit/Boris Johnson? No

Special shout-out to FilmFan720 and Big Magilla who got the most points with 8 out of 10 correct answers!

No one got double points. But only OscarGuy predicted Sam Mendes in Director, earning him TRIPLE points...but he didn't do the bonus questions. Was it enough to win? Here are the results (let me know if I overlooked or miscalculated anyone, advanced apologies):

12 points* = Okri (didn't do the bonus questions)
18 points = Aceisgreat
23 points = nightwingnova
24 points = criddic3
26 points = anonymous1980
27 points = mlrg
28 points = Precious Doll & Heksagon
29 points = Sabin
30 points = Mister Tee & FilmFan720
31 points = dws1982
32 points = Big Magilla
33 points = Reza & Jefforey Smith
34 points = CalWilliam
36 points = flipp525

and the winner with 39 points and without even doing the optional bonus questions is...

Oscar Guy!!!

Your Sam Mendes prediction won you this! Take a bow!

You didn't need no tie-breaker. You kicked our collective asses. (flipp was the only one close to you.) Kudos.

I'm surprised that I'm the only one who got the first bonus question right, but I doubt I'm going to tie for the win so that won't help.

Two notes going in:

My pick of 1917/consequent shutout of The Irishman is partly paranoia (that my favorite film always gets screwed) and partly an attempt at a karmic bank-shot -- sacrificing my score if it brings reverse luck to my choice.

There are three contenders the people at AwardsWorthy think are locked/you have to be an idiot not to go with them: Phoenix, Zellweger and Pitt. My fervent hope is for as many of them as possible not to win.

Things can change rapidly from the Globes. Remember, this time last year, most of us thought Bradley Cooper was on the easy road to an Oscar. The year before, Willem Dafoe and Laurie Metcalf were verging on locks. Hoping for shifts on that level.
