Thank you Anonymous and Precous Doll and Nightwing for noticing my better-than-usual standing. I got so frustrated trying to enter my prediction while on a train en route to the family Oscar party that I forgot Foreign Film. I would have done even better had I included it. Congrats to all who did well this year.

I came up with my predictions about twenty minutes before the show started. I’m surprised that I tied for second place having made incorrect predictions for a lot of the big awards (Picture, Actor, Original Screenplay, Original Song).

That Icarus guess helped!

I ignored precedent in a few spots, partly out of caution of recent trends and partly because I didn't want to be wrong predicting on gut.

I expected to win the booby prize and almost did, but the only change I regret making is taking Eva Marie Saint and Rita Moreno out of my predictions for standing ovations. I thought they would save the ovations for the former winners for the class photo that never came.

Congrats to nighwingnova and his whopping 69 points!

Math is not my strong suit so let me know if I made a mistake on any of these.

The answers to the bonus points are: Lady Bird and The Post; and Jerry Lewis.

Since practically every expected winner won, I had to look at the shorts and documentary categories to see if anyone qualified for double or triple points. As it turns out, only three people each predicted Icarus and The Silent Child, affording them double points. Nobody got triple points this year. With that in mind, here are the results:

He did it without using runners-up and without even bothering to do the bonus point questions! He won by virtue of earning double points by predicting both Icarus and The Silent Child, that was the deciding factor. Congrats!

Absolutely true. Should have stuck to my original predictions. Kept changing them around. Did badly in the end.

Since (except for Icarus) all the faves won, I assume there were at least a few that got 100%.

I went for Baby Driver in Film Editing and Sound Mixing because there were complaints about plot confusion and difficulty hearing the dialogue in Dunkirk. Seems Baby Driver not big enough to compete, despite the acclaim. "Big" continues to win.

And then I went with Garden Party because some complained that Dear Basketball was narcissistic. Should've heeded advice that Angelenos love their Kobe.

Lesson: don't overthink

This "no surprises" awards means that the information age has facilitated the Academy in developing consensus before the voting (especially with preference voting for best picture).
