I would have counted it the same way. Streep's first ovation was because of her career achievement award. Her second was because of her speech.

Nice to wake up and see that, at my not-so-tender age and in a period when I can't really follow all this as I used to do, I can still play this game.

To be honest, I expected I'd win this time - but in a tie with much more than just one person. It's getting more and more predictable year after year - the internet plays a role, even in the way it influences voters today. And, of course, "betting" on a surprise is so risky that almost nobody does that (Okri should really be congratulated for having predicted that screenplay win).

Plus, how shall I put it - I can "feel" a loser. And this year, even too clearly, Natalie Portman is a loser. Oh I know, there are still the SAGs and everything can change. But at the moment, and probably even in these next weeks, we know (or at least I know and knew when I played this game, without doubting it for one second) that Portman - great as she must be in Jackie, I haven't seen the movie yet and by the way unlike many here I truly liked her performance in Black Swan - doesn't have a chance. Don't ask me why - I will say more after I see Jackie. But it's obvious. Julianne Moore had been sublime in Far from Heaven and had, of course, won more back then than Portman has done this year (inclunding Best Actress at Venice: Portman's losing there, and to a young actress in a musical, was an early sign of weakness) - yet one felt that she was a loser, too. Sad but true.

Despite Aaron Taylor-Johnson's win (oh, and while the film may not be a masterpiece, I found him very good there - for the role he had to play), which probably won't even translate in an Oscar nomination, I'm afraid that the four acting winners are at the moment sealed. But then, this is when big surprises (or at least ONE big surprise) sometimes happen.

I decided to count Meryl Streep's standing ovations as 2. That plus the standing o for the Moonlight win brings it to 3. So 3 is the right answer. So without further ado, here are the results:

Filmfan720 = 15 points
anonymous1980 = 24 points
Snick's Guy, CalWilliam, nightwingnova and criddic = 27 points
Sabin = 28 points
Jefforey Smith = 29 points
Precious Doll, Okri, Oscar Guy and The Original BJ = 30 points
Big Magilla = 32 points
dws1982, mlrg and Reza = 33 points

and tied for first place with a whopping 36 points are...

Heksagon & ITALIANO

Take a bow!

A bit of trivia:

- Not surprisingly, NOBODY saw that Aaron Taylor-Johnson upset coming.

- Only Okri predicted La La Land's Screenplay victory.

Meryl Streep got a standing ovation before and a standing ovation after. Do I count that as one or two?
