Interestingly Alicia Vikander is nominated for Best Actress for The Dainish Girl, but Eddie Redmayne is not. Ex Machina is nominated for Best Picture and Director, but both Vikander and Dohmnall Gleeson are nominated for other films, Gleeson for Brooklyn. Gleeson is up against his father Brendan (Suffragette).

Have a father and son ever been nominated in the same category for a major (or minor) film award before?
