People say "The Oscars should never be political! It's inappropriate!"

The very best parts of tonight's broadcast, however, have been explicitly political.

(I may sound hypocritical after complaining about the Snowden joke, but even so...)

Correction, three standing ovations!

"Snowden couldn't be here for some 'treason."

I'm done. If NPH made an equivalent crack about American Sniper, the media would have their torches out for AMPAS. That felt like a cowardly concession.

What's more, if he just said "for some reason" it wouldn't have been a bad joke.

Did Howard forget Whiplash? Or did his teleprompter go out and he had to fake it?

Is Terrence Howard alright? He seems very confused and emotional.

For me, it was a toss up between Bacall and Nichols. I almost went Nichols and then went with Bacall instead.

Heksagon wrote:Mike Nichols was the last person in the In Memoriam. I think Sonic Youth and Franz Ferdinand were the only ones correctly predicting it.
I thought Williams would get a standalone tribute.

Not only did FF also pick Nichols, I see we also have the same answers in all three tie-breaker questions.... and FF made the predictions first. I SWEAR I didn't know!
