Birdman's win was surprising considering it lost at the editors guild. You would think that if the editors didn't get the technical proficiency necessary for the innovative Birdman, the art production would have gotten less notice.

Interesting that Guardians of the Galaxy beat not one, but two of the Oscar nominees in its category. (And yet another case of Into the Woods not really being able to get a break anywhere.)
